Study Finds Gas Will Not Drive Out Coal
A recent study issued by members of Yale Graduates in Energy finds that despite increased regulations on the coal industry and potentially increased accessibility to large volumes of natural gas, “no case can be made for gas taking over and driving coal out of the markets for fuel to generate electricity.” At most, the study states, gas derived from fracking may replace 20% of coal otherwise used in power plants.
