Resource Adequacy: Can Texas Bridge the Gap in 2013?
While the fiscal cliff looms large nationally, the critical issue of whether Texas will take decisive action to ensure sufficient generation in the years to come continues to dangle precipitously. Price floors have increased to potentially attract new generation. But, is that the right long-term solution? These issues are ripe and ready for discussion among Texas energy market stakeholders. How these issues will be addressed and by whom (regulators? elected officials?) remains to be seen as we wind down what was a truly dynamic year for energy policy.
But before we fast forward to next year, Power Across Texas is proud to announce that it will be hosting Commissoner Rolando Pablos next week for a Policy Forum. Commissioner Pablos has generously agreed to share his impressions and insight as he completes his first year at Texas Public Utility Commission (see more below).

Commissioner Rolando Pablos: Swing Vote?
Rolando Pablos is gearing up for his first legislative session as a PUC Commissioner after what can only be described as a whirlwind year for energy issues. Pablos, an attorney and father of four will continue to play a central policymaking role as the PUC continues to deliberate over the most pressing issue of the day—when and if Texas will experience a power generation shortage—and what to do about it.
Just one month after being appointed by Governor Perry to the PUC in September 2011, Commissioner Pablos participated in an informative policy forum with dozens of Power Across Texas members and corporate sponsors. We look forward to welcoming him again next week.
